FESTIVAL STAGE EDC BASSPOD SPACE MONKEYS

Vita Motus was commissioned again to design the Basspod Stage at EDC 2018. The new iteration followed up on previous 360 design strategies by immersing the crowd in heroic-scale sculptural art. We imagine these giant forms as highly advanced “Space Monkeys” returning to Earth after ages of inter-galactic exploration. Composed of water-jetted steel planes, the tripod structure balances mass with minimal ground contact and creates an avenue for circulation and resting. The exterior is detailed with UV-reactive geometric line and glyph, adding additional depth to the story.

The design complements Insomniac’s recent re-branding, channeling modern aesthetic sensitivities into thematic sci-fi. 2018
