FESTIVAL STAGE COACHELLA: THE DO LAB MISTING OASIS

For 2011, Do LaB and Vita Motus wanted to ‘GO BIG!’ – testing the boundaries of scale, size, height, color, and shade. Coachella had turned to Do LaB and Vita Motus for years to provide unique multidimensional stage and art installations as performance spaces, and this design objective was based on creating an installation that appears to defy gravity. The center arch of aluminum truss was held in place by an array of cables that also secured and positioned the fabric. The specialized Misting Oasis was designed as a sanctuary of arts and entertainment in the middle of a loud, hot, and boisterous festival environment. Blending visionary architecture and sculpture, a 360-degree event-scape was formed with the intention of immersing the festival participant in a multi-sensory experience.
