Fearless production design surrounding an unrivaled, legendary talent. Vita Motus conceived and actuated a fresh, low-tech production for Mariah Carey’s “With You”, which debuted at the 2018 American Music Awards. Mariah stands exalted while painted dancers gradually unfurl the flowing layers of her dress. Behind the performers is a full-stage translucent mirror that reflects the plan view of the performance while transmitting low-light LED from upstage. The optics combine dancers’ geometric symmetries with the eye-level performance, evoking a flowering, blooming silhouette, symbolic of the song’s theme of rebirth through love. The design proves the power of subtle optics, expressive dance, and vocal emphasis. 2018
